When I was creating this painting, I went back to days in my childhood spent wandering the woods behind our house picking wildflowers. Every May Day, I would follow the tradition of picking a bouquet or making an arrangement. Then, I left if on our porch, knocked on the door and ran. It was always fun to see my Mother’s expression as she realized she received May-Day Flowers from me. Do people still celebrate May Day? I hope so!
Can you feel the spring morning sunshine warming your face? Can you close your eyes and smell the damp fertile earth waking up?
The flowers I chose for the wildflowers are Collinsia verna or commonly called Blue-Eyed Mary. I love the fresh bright greens of spring, a perfect backdrop for the flowers. I particularly enjoy the moss!
But, it’s clear the tree takes the spotlight here. A tree that’s stayed rooted in this spot for over a hundred years, spreading it’s branches, shading the wildflowers, and feeding hundreds of species of wildlife and insects.

How To Care For Your New Acrylic Painting:
- To clean regularly, only use a dry microfiber cloth.
- Don't use a lot of pressure on the canvas; gently wipe it.
- Every 2 or 3 months, you may need to give your painting a more thorough cleaning:
* Fill a sink or bucket with clean, warm water.* Add a few drops of a non-astringent
liquid dish detergent and stir the mixture by hand until it forms a mild solution.
You can use this solution to spot-clean cured acrylic paintings. The detergent will
help emulsify dirt and grime to lift them from the surface of the paint while the
water flushes them away. Again, use a microfiber or soft cloth. (If you just bought
the painting from me, wait for this type of cleaning after a couple of months of ownership).
